Your Web Hosting Company is Starving

I can say with a fair amount of confidence that whichever your chosen provider is, your web hosting company is starving. I say this because there are so many of them out there. Just look at how much you get for your hosting dollar. More often than not, web hosting companies are offering unlimited everything for less than five dollars per month. This give you an opportunity to have multiple providers, which is a good way to set up a fail over mechanism such that if one is done, you can quickly switch over to the other.

The fact that your web hosting company is starving makes you, as a consumer, the clear winner. It really makes no sense not to get a web site up and running. You can even hire others to design it for you and provide content too. If you want a self filling web site, you can set up a blog, announce the blog and people will post to it. This is organic content that is simply priceless. Granted, there are a lot of spammers out there that only want to post to your board to get a link bank to your site, but there are ways of controlling that too (just set the blog up where you have to approve comments and posts). So I stick by my statement that your web hosting company is starving. Because as I stated in the opening paragraph they are giving you unlimited bandwidth, unlimited space, unlimited emails for practically nothing. In the early days when there were only a handful of web hosting companies, they were charging outrageous fees for very little space. They could easily get 40 to 50 dollars per domain and offer you a measly 1/2 a gig bandwidth (a popular site would rip through that in a matter of days). And then if you needed more they were charge you an even steeper fee for the extra bandwidth.

My how times have changed. Web hosting companies know it’s practically a matter of redirecting your domain name to point to a new web hosting company. Then you just send your files from the old company to the new one and you are in business with a new provider. In fact, much of the Web development software today will automatically send your complete web site to wherever you tell it. So switching providers is a cinch. The only caveat here, is any databases that you may have with your old providers should be backed up and replicated onto the new site. But that is not hard to do either.

So if you’ve been on the fence about getting started, remember that your web hosting company is starving and you can get a lot of value for very little money. Seriously, why wait any longer? There’s no reason to any more. With all the space, bandwidth and tools, you are literally moments away from having a web site. Use the fact that your web hosting company is starving to your advantage.
